Years – Bartholomäus Traubeck

Using Arduino technology and VVVV software, Bartholomäus Traubeck has created music from the growth rings of a tree. Each disk of wood is cut to the size of a 12″ record, 8mm thick. It is scanned and a computer program interprets the reading into sound.

The installation piece is called “Years” and was created in 2011.
